#1 - Getting Started

Find it hard to maintain an exercise routine with a busy schedule? Learn from successful people and discover strategies to stay consistent and turn your fitness goals into lasting achievements with these practical tips.

I always believed that having an exercise routine was the right thing to do. Healthy body, healthy mind, as they say. I just can’t tell you exactly how many times I started up. My newly installed routine lasted anything from a once off event to a couple of weeks, with life just happening in between. Some of the excuses were fully understandable, while others were merely lack of focus and prioritization.

How could I make my exercise routine stick in the face of a busy work life, between working overtime, family responsibilities, staying current in my social circles and still find time to rest and “smell the roses”?

Yes, it can be done!! Countless people from all walks of life have published their stories of getting their lives on track. If so many can do it, we can do it too.

How do they do it?

Successful people don’t find it easy to maintain a routine either. Successful people make decisions and hold themselves accountable. “So, how do they do it?”, you may ask. The secret is AUTOMATE. When the alarm goes off to get up for the 5a.m. run, there’s NO discussion, NO negotiation. Cancellations are only acceptable by predetermined conditions, E.g. Rain, Ill health that would be confirm by a doctor as dangerous for exercise etc

  • Accountability partner or group – essential (almost always)
  • Acknowledge that not everyday will be a ground-breaking day. In fact most aren't
  • Successful people praise themselves for showing up and give their best effort no matter how insignificant the effort may look from the outside

Now that you're there, make the most and give your best effort.

What do we get out of it?

  • A healthy body
  • A healthy mind
  • A sense of achievment
  • A building block in becoming the person you want to be

The life lesson here is, that no matter what avenue of life you are venturing to change:

  • Decide on your first action
  • AUTOMATE until it becomes more of you who you are than something you do

Cheers!! To your success at GETTING STARTED.
